Ludivine Loursel

Ludivine Loursel is a glassblower and bronzesmith born in Rouen in 1994, living and working in Ver-sur-Mer (Calvados). Passionate about the art of fire, she combines metal and glass to create sensitive works at the crossroads of sculpture, lighting, and decorative objects. She was introduced to metalworking within a group of visual artists and set designers, then obtained a diploma in Metal Application Design from the École Boulle. She further developed her glassblowing practice with Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert, and through time spent with Karen Nyholm and Ned Cantrell in Denmark. Her work has received several awards, including the Young Creative Craftsperson’s Award from Ateliers d’Art de France in 2023.

Her practice explores the interplay of scale and the role of glass within objects, placing it at the centre of her artistic expression. Through reflections, deformations, and controlled accidents, glass disturbs perception and invites contemplation, while brass introduces a counterpoint of strength and stability. Her work is a quest for the right balance between emotion, material and memory, navigating the space between mastery of gesture and openness to chance.
