Jonathan Ausseresse
Jonathan Ausseresse is a glass artist born in Arnas in 1994, who lives and works in Chonas-l’Amballan (Isère). He trained at the École Supérieure de Design et Métiers d’Art d’Auvergne (ESDMAA, Yzeure) and discovered glass in his father’s workshop, where he became aware of the material’s shifting and expressive possibilities. Since establishing his own workshop in 2015, he has developed his practice through research into metallic oxide chemistry, firing techniques, and lava stonework, combining technical precision with ongoing experimentation.
His work brings together glass and volcanic stone, notably in the Fluence collection, composed of delicately transparent monoliths in intense colours. This body of work draws on his family’s expertise in enamelling by sprinkling, alongside research into deep coloured glass. His approach focuses on the movement of molten glass, allowing flowing gestures, waves, and trajectories formed at high temperature to be captured and fixed within the mass of the material. In 2021, he was the national winner of the Ateliers d’Art de France Competition.
