Raquel Aguilar
Raquel Aguilar Colivoro (Quellón, Island of Chiloé, Chile) is a craftswoman specialised in working with quilineja (Luzuriaga radicans), a native fibre from the humid forests of southern Chile. From its careful gathering in wetlands to the processes of cleaning, braiding, and weaving, she develops a practice that combines ancestral knowledge with a contemporary approach, granting this material a renewed aesthetic and symbolic dimension.
Her work is characterised by delicate organic forms that evoke the coastal landscapes and daily life of the island of Chiloé. In 2020, she received the Seal of Excellence in Craftsmanship Chile for her piece Marisca de caracoles. In 2023 and 2025, she represented Chile at the Révélations Biennale in Paris, bringing international visibility to her work and its strong connection to territory, memory, and materiality.
