Sophie Blanc

Originally from Auvergne, Sophie Blanc began her career in electronics before turning to arts and crafts. At the age of 29, she enrolled at the École Boulle in Paris to train in cabinetmaking and later specialised in gilding. In 2004, she co-founded the workshop À l’or et du bois, and in 2016 she was awarded the title of Maître Artisan (Master Artisan). A lifelong gleaner, she began applying gold leaf to plants gathered from nature, giving rise to a practice rooted in the encounter between artisanal technique and living matter.

Her sculptures explore themes of fragility, memory, and the place of human beings in a constantly transforming world. Influenced by the formal simplicity of Brancusi and the expressive power of Giacometti, her work combines purity of form with spiritual depth. Listed in the Homo Faber Guide since 2021, she has exhibited at the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire (2023), the Homo Faber Biennale in Venice (2024), and the Révélations Biennale at the Grand Palais in Paris (2025).
