童心笛 & 沈婷
Tong Xindi & Shen Ting are an artist duo who graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a major in Fine Art, and the China Academy of Art with a major in Ceramic Art and Design, respectively. Their practice combines traditional ceramic craftsmanship, computer algorithms, and CNC technology—a collision between tradition and technology.
Through self-made machinery and computer programming, they achieve the direct material transformation of mathematical algorithms on traditional ceramic materials, aiming to simulate the creative processes of nature.
In their works, the flowing and rhythmic movement of glaze becomes a painterly language full of material force and vitality. Since their debut in 2020, their work has attracted wide attention in the ceramic art world both domestically and internationally due to its unique techniques and expressions. One of their pieces has been collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK, the world’s largest museum of applied and decorative arts.
