Yuudai Tachikawa

Yuudai Tachikawa, born in 1965 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, works at the intersection of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary design. He leads the brand UBUSHINA, producing bespoke artistic decorations for specific spaces, with projects including the Tokyo Imperial Palace Hotel and CLASKA. He has also long served as brand advisor to the Takaoka metalworks manufacturer Nosaku, and in 2016 received the Mitsui Kinsho Award for his contributions to traditional crafts.

Drawing on techniques such as lacquerware, metal casting, and woodworking, Tachikawa integrates traditional materials with architectural and interior design concepts through processes of combination and layering. Since 2016, he has also developed the brand AMUAMI, bringing together master artisans to explore new possibilities for traditional crafts in contemporary contexts.
