Zhao JIANG is a Senior Arts and Crafts Master, recognized as one of the First Top Ten Young Arts and Crafts Artists of Jiangsu, and selected for the 7th cohort of Nanjing’s "Five-One Project" cultural talents. He has been honored with the title of “National Treasure Artisan – Leading Figure” by the Folk Literature and Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
He is the representative inheritor of two district-level intangible cultural heritage techniques in Nanjing: Wood Grain Gold Metal Forging and Metal Repoussé Engraving. Jiang is also a member of the Metal Arts Professional Committee of the China Arts and Crafts Association, and holds positions in multiple professional bodies, including the Jiangsu Province Arts and Crafts Industry Association, Jiangsu Province Folk Artists Association, Nanjing Arts and Crafts Industry Association (Board Member), Nanjing Folk Literary and Art Association, and the Jiangning District Folk Literary and Art Association where he serves as Vice President.
In academia, he is a Visiting Professor at the School of Art and Design at Nanjing Institute of Technology, a committee member for the Arts and Crafts Program at Jiangsu Open University, and Honorary Chairman of the Expert Advisory Panel for the Conservation and Restoration Committee under the Xi’an Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association.
In 2006, JIANG founded Jiangzao Metal Craft, and over the past decade and more, he has been relentlessly exploring the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art. His creations emphasize aesthetic integration, seeking to express the essence and spirit of Eastern culture through metal as a medium. He firmly believes that art should return to everyday life and become part of it—a belief reflected in his brand philosophy: “Art returns to life—good objects accompany us for a lifetime.”
He is also the first Chinese metal crafts artist to be invited to participate in the Révélations International Biennial of Crafts and Creation in Paris with a solo booth, marking a significant milestone for Chinese metal art on the international stage.
